It is amazing (and tragic) to see that how few Independents have run in Ontario and particularly in downtown Toronto. In fact in the 2006 election only 28 independent candidates ran in Ontario and not a single one in Downtown Toronto.

Quebec has had 24 independent candidates since 2006 (17 in the January 23, 2006 election) with a large number of those coming from a by-election in Outremont.
Conclusion: Independent candidates are in short supply.
